Joining an existing Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
There are literally thousands of Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) Schemes operating in the UK; and, although each Scheme undertakes similar objectives to every other, they remain uniquely individual and meet the direct needs of their members.
Although NHW schemes may have different characteristics, depending on the area in which they are situated, their prime objectives will always be the same.
In Bedfordshire, there are 3 separate Associations that coordinate and manage NHW in their respective areas:
If you are considering joining NHW, the first thing you need to do is determine which geographical area of Bedfordshire you live in and then contact the relevant NHW Association to see if there is a Scheme already operating near you.
Even if there is no such Scheme established, the process for setting up a new Scheme is quite straightforward and you will receive all the assistance you need to set one up.
The Central Bedfordshire NHW Association manages and coordinates the operation of NHW Schemes in 40 different locations of Central Bedfordshire. Designated Area Coordinators provide day-to-day supervision of NHW Street Schemes in their respective areas and assist the setting up of new NHW Schemes.
To find out if there is a Scheme operating where you live, please contact us. If there is a group in your area, we will make arrangements for the respective Street or Area Coordinator to provide you with all the information you require.
If no group exists, then we will encourage you to set up a new Scheme and will provide you with all the help we can to get you up and started
