It may surprise you to learn that the whole of Bedfordshire has been designated a “No Cold Calling Zone”. This is to discourage rogue traders, doorstep callers and fly-by-night traders. Such traders often target the elderly or infirm and may pose as officials from, for example, the Local Authority, Utility Companies, the Health Service and even the Police.
No Cold Calling Zones
Although they are not legally enforceable, No Cold Calling Zones (NCCZs) do act as deterrent to unwanted callers and criminal activity. Individual NCCZs can be established, if there are justifiable reasons for doing so (such as being a high crime area or a known history of nuisance callers).
Individual NCCZs are designated by appropriate street signs and further information on the designation of any particular street or area can be obtained from Central Bedfordshire Council.

Bedfordshire Neighbourhood Watch
No Cold Calling sticker.
Recently introduced, especially for Bedfordshire NHW members. Place on a suitable internal glass window to alert everyone to the fact that you do not want uninvited callers, or any “cold-calling”. The sticker also provides useful reminders to lock other doors to prevent any “distraction type burglaries” from occurring.
All new members receive one of these stickers.
Existing members can obtain one of these through their Street Scheme or Area Coordinator.
